Gong Hee Fot Choy
Mood:  crushed out
Now Playing: "Superstition"
Happy Chinese New Year! I am a bit crushed over this, because Chinese New Year is not celebrated in NJ as far as I can see, and I miss Tai Chi Chuan. I am actually writing this post on the 10th, because it was too fresh on the actual eve (the 8th)-and on the day of it-yesterday the 9th. They undoubtedly had the lion parade over the river (which I do not remember ever seeing in person anywhere) and I had to be at work thinking about it(phttttt!)I wouldn't have had anyone to share it with, anyway *sour grapes* To be honest, I didn't know much about the holiday, either, except what I have experienced kinesthetically and emotionally from hangin' with the Tai Chi crew. They are all good memories-like eating in the Toronto school, watching Sifu do the sword form, and not knowing I wasn't supposed to stare--and not caring as I think back because it was worth it! LOL. And oh, by the way, did I mention eating a lot?

I happened to learn more about the formalities of the holiday by running into a reading passage in a book I've found to use for my intermediate level reading students. I had all who asked for reading complete the packet, so in a way, at least I didn't think of New Year completely alone, even if my thugs had to share the thought. One of them said he thought of me when he saw something related to Chinese New Year on the News. It was a bunch of couples making sure to wed before midnight. I didn't know about this practice. It was a kind observation but Man, little did he know how far that was from my truth!

I also remember my sifu once saying something to the 2000 Detroit bunch about how before New Year, you are to let go of all past hang-ups. I am still here, hung on a string of my own insecurity, fear of greatness, and maybe dangerous comfort. That will not change as I soon will become a busybody as usual, doing a new project for three months--a class..everything but what I really want to do. Is there hope for my mission? I realize with all good sense that the class will maybe be an indirect catalyst.

In additional expression of my disappointment of the almost non-existent local acknowledgement of the Chinese New Year, did not finish paying any bills or sort out my filing cabinets like a true optimist (or shall I controversially say, supersitious celebrator?)

Peace out! & Peace in to the New Year!!!!--Little D

I am a Tai Chi Instructor!
Mood:  surprised
Today--some stranger IMed me saying they had a question about Tai Chi. I was like.."uh...okay" (I've never done this!--but have been painstakingly considering it for three years!)...So I subsequently (and probably forever) lost touch with the stranger as the network went down (thanks, Newport phone solicitors!)and I didn't get a chance to hear the question. Still-I have no idea how this stranger found out about my interests in Tai Chi Chuan. Maybe my day has finally come! It has been decided for me! (what a relief) Is it, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear" or "When the teacher is ready, the student will appear"? I just humbly better start getting my chi on!

Thank Goodness-- I've Got My Blog On!!!
Mood:  spacey
Well, on the third try, TRI-pod by lycos, has been the most user friendly blogging site, and here it is! I was going to write how I can't believe I'm blogging and that I can't wait to tell all my friends and family about it and how they can too, but then I saw those very words in the blog template example and I felt--woe! I'm as original as a tootsie roll-shaped piece of poop!

Nevertheless, I wrote it after all, above, and I must say, I bet no one has reflected on it quite like me! Any comments of yours? Post them, and I may roast them!, and if you haven't seen my ever so thrown-together, very incomplete, and corny website, visit my homepage--and soon!--'cause if I plug myself any more, the world's children will never again be able to enjoy one of Hoboken's famous Tootsie Rolls.
